Liturgical Ministries

If we knew the value of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, how much effort we would put forth in order to assist at it! // St. John Marie Vianney
Are you feeling called to participate in a larger role at Mass? There are a variety of ways to be more involved in the celebration of the Mass, and for parishioners as young as ten years old. God has blessed us all with unique gifts and talents, and yours are specially made to give back to God and evangelize to others through ministry. Find your place as a liturgical minster by reviewing the important ministries of the Church below.

To get involved with our music ministries, please contact Michelle Nehrbass (St. Francis of Assisi Campus) or Kevin Samblanet (Incarnation Campus). To learn more and get involved in all other liturgical ministries, please contact Stacy Stang.
ALTAR SERVERS
Are you young, but want to serve the Church? Well, if you are at least ten years old and have made your First Holy Communion, you are ready to serve your church as an altar server!

The role of an altar server is to assist the presiding priest during weekend Masses. It provides young people the opportunity to make a difference during the Mass, while also increasing their understanding of how the Mass works as they have a front row seat and hands-on experience participating throughout the liturgy.

Both campuses also ask for adults to serve during funeral Masses during the day. Funeral servers do not have a regular schedule, but are contacted as funerals are scheduled.

A training session is required for all servers.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION
Do you enjoy bringing Christ to others? Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion play the remarkable role of distributing the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Sacrament of the Eucharist at Mass. All parishioners beginning in 9th grade are invited to serve the Mass as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. A training session is required.

GREETERS
Do you have a warm and vibrant personality? Do you enjoy talking with others and building community? We'd love to have you help welcome people back home to church each weekend! Greeters are the first point of contact that parishioners and the community have to the Mass - how will you help prepare their hearts for Christ? On the St. Francis of Assisi Campus, greeters also serve as ushers. Please use the drop down menu "Ushers" below to learn more.

LECTORS
Do you enjoy reading the Bible? Do you have a strong presence and clear speaking voice? Lectors are called to proclaim the Word of God in the first and second readings in a manner that makes the Word fresh and meaningful to the people of God in the pews. A training session is required.

LITURGICAL ENVIRONMENT
If you would enjoy setting the Church up for new liturgical seasons, we would love to have you on our liturgical environment teams. This ministry is responsible for the planning, budgeting, set up, maintenance and removal of the seasonal decorations in the Church. It also consists of the flower and plant arrangements, banners, and other articles used during the liturgies.
MASS COORDINATORS + SACRISTANS
Do you enjoy working behind-the-scenes? Are you organized and have good attention to detail? Do you love serving the Church? Our Mass Coordinators (Incarnation Campus) and Sacristans (St. Francis of Assisi Campus) works with our clergy to ensure that everyone and everything is prepped and prepared for Mass every day of the week.

MUSIC
Do enjoy praising God through music? Do you enjoy working with a team? Can you play an instrument? Our Music Ministry is the perfect fit for you! With one weekly practice and various Mass times to select from, we hope you'll join our choirs, cantors and instrumentalists to lead our churches in song. We also have an Our Lady of Light children's choir!

USHERS
Do you enjoy lending a helping hand and assisting others in various tasks? Ushers oversee all tasks before, during and after the Mass that keep parishioners organized and on track. Helping parishioners find a seat, taking up the collection, directing communion lines, and distributing bulletins are just some of the important duties of an Usher.
