Encounter Scripture, Encounter Christ

​Our Lady of Light Family is excited to announce the start of our Bible Study series and Community Groups—small group gatherings that help us grow in faith by opening our hearts to God’s Word. These groups are a place to encounter Scripture, reflect on God’s presence in our lives, and share faith with others. Whether you are new to the Bible or have studied for years, you’ll find encouragement, friendship, and spiritual nourishment. OLL Family Movie Summer Series
Thursdays |  8:00 PM |  Incarnation (PAC Lobby)

Join Our Lady of Light Family of Parishes for a new Family Movie Summer Series on the Incarnation Campus school playground! Every other Thursday evening at 8:00 pm this summer, families and parishioners of all ages are invited to enjoy a fun night of movies, community, and conversation.  Each family-friendly movie will include simple faith discussion points to help families connect everyday stories and themes to our Catholic faith and encourage meaningful conversations beyond the screen.
August 13 – Zootopia
Bring lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, and friends!  Open to all ages and all are welcome!  We hope this becomes a joyful way for our parish community to gather together throughout the summer and continue building fellowship ahead of our parish picnic season.

OLL Leader Huddle
Saturday, August 15 |  9:15 - 11:30 AM  |  St. Francis of Assisi

Everyone is welcome to join us for the first Leader Huddle of the fall. The morning will include a light breakfast and coffee, opportunities to meet fellow parishioners, prayer, and conversation about how God is working in our lives and ministries as we look ahead to the coming year.  Ministry leads, parish leaders, and Reach More alumni are strongly encouraged to participate as we gather to launch the fall season together.

Euchre Party
Saturday, August 15 |  St. Francis of Assisi  |  All Saints Room

​The Men’s Club is hosting a Euchre Party for Our Lady of Light Family on Sat., August 15 from 7 pm - 10 pm in the All Saints Room at the St. Francis Campus.  Bring your friends, drinks, and a snack to share.  A donation of $2 will be used to reward first, second, third, and last place.  All teams are asked to donate $.50 for each euchre to support Elizabeth’s New Life Center.  Contact Mike at 937-689-2570 with questions.

Fellowship Sunday
Sunday, August 16 |  St. Francis of Assisi

​Enjoy fellowship and breakfast snacks on Sunday, August 16 after the morning masses in Friendship Hall.  Freewill donations will benefit the Knights of Columbus Francis X. Hoffer Council #14504 Coats for Kids campaign, which provides winter coats for children and adults in need. All are welcome!
 

Our Lady of Light Family Picnic
Sunday, August 23 |  St. Francis of Assisi

Join us for a day of faith, fellowship, and fun at Our Lady of Light Family Picnic! Enjoy Mass together, followed by lunch, kids’ activities, Catholic trivia bingo, games, an ice cream sundae bar, and live music. As the day comes to a close, we will gather for outdoor Adoration, offering a beautiful opportunity to spend time in prayer together. All are welcome to celebrate and enjoy this special time as a parish family.​

OLL Summer Golf Outing
Sunday, September 13 |  1:00 PM  |  Locust Hills Golf Course

Our Lady of Light Summer Golf Outing is scheduled for Sun., September 13 at 1:00 pm at Locust Hills Golf Course, 5575 N. River Road in Springfield.  Greens fee, cart, refreshments, and dinner are included at $75 per golfer. This scramble event is open to all. Make up your own foursome or we will arrange pairings. Entry forms are available at http://tiny.cc/golf-outing at the SFA parish office and in the Gathering Space.  See the signup table after Masses on Aug. 29-30 and Sept. 5-6. The registration with payment MUST be received by September 6!  Volunteers & Raffle prize donations are needed (tickets for UD, WSU, Dragons, or Reds games, Golf Course Passes, and restaurant gift certificates, etc.)  For more information call Deb Franz at 937-623-0932.

Next Chapter | Empty Nester Series
Saturday, September 19 |  6:00 PM  |  Incarnation

Next Chapter is a seasonal vocational discernment series for soon-to-be and current empty nesters who are asking: What is God calling me to in this new stage of life, and how can I continue living out my vocation with purpose? Together, we will walk through the Acts of the Apostles and reflect on how the Holy Spirit continues to lead, send, and renew us through seasons of transition, uncertainty, and new beginnings. Hosted every other month over the course of a year, Next Chapter is designed to create space for both meaningful community and intentional rest in the “off” months—whether that means building friendships within the group, serving in the community through ministry or outreach, or planning a purposeful date night with your spouse. Each gathering stands on its own, so come as you can.

Dinner will be provided following Mass at each gathering. Please RSVP to Sarah Chivers at [email protected] prior to each event, including any food allergies, so we can plan accordingly.
